About Us

Gordo High School, located in Gordo, Alabama, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1898. Situated in Eastern Pickens County, our school serves students from Gordo and surrounding areas, encompassing grades 7 through 12.
Throughout our history, Gordo High School has been committed to providing quality education and fostering community engagement. Our school's mascot, the Greenwave, symbolizes the spirit and pride of its students and alumni.
 
Athletics play a significant role in our school's culture. The football team secured state championships in 2A (1968, 1980, 2001) and 3A (1985), while the baseball team achieved back-to-back 2A championships in 2002 and 2003, with additional 3A titles in 2011 and 2017. The Lady Waves basketball team celebrated their first sub-regional win and regional appearance during the 2017-2018 season.
 
The Grenadier Marching Band is another cornerstone of Gordo High School, earning numerous accolades and hosting the annual West Alabama Marching Band Festival. Our band's motto "We winna be dunted," reflects their resilience and dedication.
Today, Gordo High School continues its tradition of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and community involvement, preparing students for future success while honoring its storied past.
